We went to see Wrexham football stadium today. If you don’t know the story, Hollywood super star Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham AFC in 2020 They’ve invested heavily in the football club and consequently the town. It’s a real rags to riches story, as within those two years, Wrexham have gone up two leagues. And as we are staying about 20minutes away we thought we’d pay a visit.
We popped in the shop and bought some merch, and didn’t meet Ryan Reynolds!!! ????.

Now as you may have read, the exhaust is in a sorry state on the Galaxy, the centre pipe has a big hole in it, and I’m sorry to say my attempt at a “bodge” before the holiday wasn’t holding anymore.
Just outside Wrexham stadium there’s an ATS car place and Laura suggested popping in and seeing if they can sort the exhaust, so in we popped. They had a look at the exhaust and also a cursory look at the tyres. So we need 3 new tyres too. The back right has a split in and you can see the insides. The front left has 3mm left, and while legal, are practically slicks in places. The front right, well, I bought a replacement wheel off eBay and the tyre is the wrong way round for rotation – it only had 5mm on it so may as well replace that too.
The centre pipe was able to be delivered within 30 mins and they had tyres in stock. So we took a 15minute walk to The Range to get a drink and something to eat. We walked through the grounds of Wrexham University, had to duck under a barrier, up the road and through the hedges (we could have walked round but there was a previously trodden path through).
Fortunately TheRange has a nice cafe and I had a latte and a sausage roll, Laura had a pot of tea and slice of St Clements cake and Adam had a sausage roll, iced latte and a caramelised biscuit cake (just on the right side of moist). We had a wander round picking up stuff we didn’t know we needed, and I popped out to see if ATS had phoned… They had and left a message (there’s no mobile phone coverage in the store) – The wrong exhaust part was sent, so we had to wait a little longer until 2/2.30pm so we had some lunch too. We all had Jacket Potato’s with Beans and Cheese – they were nice with a nice side salad.
I phoned ATS just after 2pm and the car was ready, so I walked back, paid the £433 and collected Laura and Adam from TheRange. The car was driving so much better.
Considering what could have happened on the 4 hour trip home, possibly a blow out on the rear tyre would cause the car to drop lower on the floor, potentially ripping the exhaust off, destroying the catalytic converter, the middle section and the back box, possibly causing further damage to the car, maybe flipping the car at high speed, I would say that it was a God managed idea for Laura to suggest just asking ATS, then we discovered the split in the rear tyre…
We’re back at the lodge now, we’re going to be resting, playing a game of Cards Against Humanity (family edition). Mac N Cheese (proper Nelly version) for dinner and Rhubarb and Ginger crumble and custard for pudding. Hot tub later too.
While resting, we saw a couple of Red Kites flying over and hovering around the sheets field in front of the lodge. Beautiful birds, and we managed to get some photo’s too.

We’re off to Chester tomorrow to have a look around this Roman city.
