Today was the day we decided to go to Puerto Mogán. We got up relatively early for breakfast at 8.30 as the bus to Puerto Mogán was due to pick people up from outside the hotel at 9.55am, so we wanted to make sure we were early as it’s a first come first served. We waited in the reception for about 40 minutes, and then picked a spot in amongst the throngs of people waiting for the bus. We were very fortunate that the space we picked was pretty much near the door, so we were 5th on the bus. Just as well as people actually got turned away.
Here’s a few photo’s we took in the reception area while we waited
Puerto Mogán
We arrived and Puerto Mogán after the trip down and then back up the motorway from Taurito (it’s the only way to get there since the mountain road collapsed about 8 years ago). The drop off point was a fair walk from main harbour area, which is why we decided to get a taxi back to the hotel, rather than rushing after a quick 2 hour trip.
Adam had seen a rucksack that he liked the look of in one of the shops in Taurito, and we remembered that there are a few shops in Puerto Mogán that may sell them, so, and Mum would be proud, we had a look round the shops (there was a bit of a market, but the full market is on Friday, and we’ll be avoiding that!!). The shopping, and mainly the area, brought back a few memories for Adam for the last time he was in Gran Canaria in 2017. Needless to say, we didn’t find a rucksack that he liked.
We did stop for a drink at first, then had a wander, a bit of looking round the shops, we walked past the steak restaurant that we went in in 2017, but it was too bust for a picture.
Someone was using a drone on the beach, which was a bit suspect, then all of a sudden it disappeared. None of us could see who was operating it, but that type of drone can be controlled a couple of kilometres away.
We stopped off at another restaurant and actually had to remember to pay for lunch 😂. Adam wasn’t hungry, because he had a big breakfast, so he just had a Kopparberg – Strawberry and Lime, complete with a frozen glass and a frozen strawberry. Laura has a club sandwich and a few chips and a Diet Coke, I had a steak baguette a few chips, and a Heineken.
After a brief stop for the facilities in the restaurant, we got a taxi back. €23 but I gave him €30 for a tip (my tip should have been a refresher course in driving – it wasn’t the best) and we got back around 3pm. Just enough time to nip down to the shop on the strip in Taurito and get Adam that back….. Shop was shut… must have been siesta time.
Here’s a few pics we took in Puerto Mogán
We got back and had a rest in the room before heading off to dinner. There was no entertainment tonight, so we got a drink and watched the sun set before heading back.
It’s such an amazing location for watching the sunset, both from the terrace area, and also from our balcony… so here’s a few snaps of it.
The sun sets about 8pm here, so after that we came back to the room and watch a film – The first time we’ve had the TV on all holiday. We watched….

It was bonkers, a mild comment on the patriarchy society of the west, but that’s nothing to do with horses (you need to see the film)… We’ll you can’t top that – off to bed… Nite Nite…
