We had a relaxing day at the lodge today, but we did go for a wander round the site and down to “The Retreat” which is the onsite Cafe, Restaurant, Shop, Checking In, Take out and Delivery place. We had a cup of tea, well Laura did, Adam and I had an ultimate hot chocolate and a slice of Victoria sponge cake.

There are lots of well behaved doggies around, and I’m not sure, if we’d have brought Poppy, she would be one of those…
Speaking of Poppy, we’ve had a few updates from Barehams with photo’s of Poppy enjoying herself, and playing with other doggies – She’s going to be knackered by the time we come home.
We continued our walk around, if nothing else to walk a few calories off after eating cake, and found a clearing that would be amazing to watch the night sky and look at the stars. We wandered round the field and back to the lodge where I lit the log burner – it wasn’t cold but we’d bought logs so had to set fire to them at some point.

The fire was so hot, and instead of shutting the thermostats off in the bedrooms, it seemed like they wanted to compete with the roaring fire – so the whole lodge was super hot.
After a little rest, I made dirty rice for dinner, and we sat a watched a movie. We were waiting for midnight, as there was supposed to be a meteor shower visible, and what better place to see that than in the clearing we found earlier. So off we set at midnight, head torches in hand (well on heads actually); it was so dark; and went to the clearing, sat on the benches and just looked up at the sky. It was so clear and the stars were so bright. We sat there for about 40 minutes before we got too cold and headed back to the lodge.
It was an amazing sky to watch, and actually the cameras caught more of the stars than the naked eye could see. So here are a few of the pictures we took of the night sky.
