Today we went to Chester City to have a look round. It’s a roman city dating back to 79AD. The city walls are some of the best-preserved in the country and have Grade I listed status. Apart from a 100-metre (330 ft) section, the walls are almost complete (From Wikipedia so it must be true).
Its a real mix of types of buildings, Tudor looking ones, the Cathedral looks particularly gothic (but probably isn’t). We invaded the charity shops and looked around at the interesting architecture. We had a nice lunch in a cafe called 200degrees, and continued to wander round. We found ourselves on the outskirts and the quickest way back was to walk along the city walls. You could tell they were well trodden, and no, no cars or vehicles, just pedestrians only, and it took us right to where the car was parked.
There was a squirrel or 2 in the trees, and a large “Official Pigeon Feeding Station” too… seemed like a great way to keep the pigeons off the main streets.
We took a few photos around the city.
I’m having trouble uploading photos… so I’ll edit this post later to add photos.
