The Blanket Tour
Today is the day we were due to go on our free coach tour around Lanzarote. Except at 3am Laura was VERY unwell with her migraine. She was in a lot of pain. She took some more pain killers before losing them again about 30minutes later. After around an hour she finally got to sleep – We were due up at 6.45 so we could all get ready and meet the coach by 9.05am.
We didn’t think Laura would be able to go, but she got dressed, gingerly (not the colour) and prepared herself to go out. To her credit, she did.
What a great tour especially for the grand price of €0.00 / nada / zero dinero / no dosh / 0 bucks / no pounds… We started out from Club Del Carmen and picked up some others from different resorts and headed on our way to San Bartalome for the sales pitch and presentation. It was about Marino wool bed sets, mattresses, toppers, blankets, pillows etc. I have to say they were very convincing, but we don’t have a spare £1,500 to spend, but there was no pressure and it only lasted about an hour. We did buy a back warmer and a couple of neck pillows which only cost us €30. Adam also bought a back warmer as it can double up as a pillow cover / insert thing or rolled up as a headrest.
After that, we were taken to Marina Rubicon which is just outside Playa Blanca. We looked around the market there and had some lunch. Adam bought a wallet which he is very pleased with. We then drove to Femes to do some cheese tasting – Goats cheese to be precise. This was very nice cheese and we bought some smoked cheese. Mum & Dad bought some plain goats cheese. It doesn’t taste like the goats cheese in the UK, is actually very nice.
After the goats cheese tasting, we were allowed in the church of San Marcial del Rubicon (the patron saint of Lanzarote). This church survived the Lanzarote volcanic eruptions of 1730 to 1736. We were allowed to take pictures inside the church too.
It was great to see some of the landscape, the way they grow grapes; how the lava flow is still there and not cleared away, the mountains. All in all it was a great trip and did I mention that it was free.
Here are some pictures from the trip:
I’ve since found out that you can buy the same Marino wool bed sets for a cheaper price from http://www.sleep-matters.co.uk.
Lovely photos and the church looks very inviting. Hope Laura’s miagrain has gone and she’s feeling a whole lot better. Enjoying the blogging too xx
