9th June 2024…
We dropped Poppy at Barehams at about 9am, she has a VIP suite and we’d booked day care sessions too, but because she hasn’t been to day care since October 2023, she has to be reassessed on Wednesday, so we booked her in for 2 one on one play sessions a day instead.
We have a slight exhaust problem on the galaxy. I tried to fix it as best as I could, but the center pipe has rusted where the hanger hook is, so it’s hanging low and scraping on the floor when you go over bumps and uneven roads… I’ll have to see if I can find somewhere to do a proper job while we’re away.
We got back to the house and left about 10.15. Simple route – M25, M1, M6, M6 Toll, then some lesser known (well lesser known to us) roads. We stopped off at the services on the M6 Toll road, our first and only stop too, and arrived at the Premier Inn, South Chester, at about 14:55 – spot on in time for check-in.
Just before we got there, we saw a pub called The Stamford Bridge Inn, and with Adam being a Chelsea football fan, he was quite excited to see it.
When we arrived at the Premier Inn we were told that the restaurant, that we’d pre-booked and paid for breakfast and dinner, wasn’t doing lunch or evening food for the foreseeable future (no idea why though). So we decided to book a table to the Stamford Bridge Inn – and very pleased we were too. Lovely pub, great atmosphere and excellent food.
Laura had Chicken Liver Pate for starters and a Ploughman’s for main.
Adam had Garlic Bread for starters, Haddock and Chips for main, for desert he had the Salted Caramel Creme Brûlée.
And I had Chilli fried scallops, followed by Cheese and Onion pie. For desert I had Salted Caramel Creme Brûlée too.
Nice pub, lovely atmosphere, good food. We finished our meal and headed back to the Premier Inn for a good night sleep – Chester Zoo tomorrow – very excited!!!!
