We left nice and early to get to Gatwick. Arrived about 6am, straight to the valet parking, no issues, left the car and had a short walk to the terminal.
We got to the bag drop, which was all self serve with loads of terminals available. He had to ask for assistance to confirm our heavy bags – we paid for 25kg and used it all 😂.
After the bag drop we made our way to the airport lounge – usage of which is a feature of our bank account. Wow… what a start to the holiday, quiet, included breakfast, drinks and somewhere to sit. We had to just wait for the gate to be opened.

We made our way to the gate and had a short wait to get on the plane. As we were boarding Laura overheard a conversation between the air steward and the very young stewardess, him saying he was old enough to be her dad, after she said she was 19, he apologised and said they were talking about ages, and Laura said she’d just turned 50 that week. Well towards the end of the flight the air steward came over to our extra space seats (well worth the money) and said he didn’t have time to bake a cake, but here was a blueberry muffin, a bottle of Prosecco and a card signed by all the crew, pilots included. How lovely.

We landed, straight through passport control, no drama. Collected our suitcase after a short wait, just long enough to question if the cases had been lost… they hadn’t been; got on the bus, number 36 and had an hour coach trip to the hotel.

As always, Cyprus is not finished and there were the usual half built homes around.

We arrived at the hotel in good time, we’re given a Buck’s Fizz while we waited… Checked in to room number 1, ground floor, nice and quite. We were greeted with a bottle of Champagne, two glasses and a happy birthday card. Wow we are impressed. The room is fantastic as well, like an expensive spa hotel.

We had arrived in time for dinner, which was a carvery, starter was pumpkin soup.
Now off to bed as we were both really knackered. But a great start to the holiday.
